Leila Qari is certainly no exception. She is a former attorney and client of ours who launched Denver Cat Company, one of the first cat cafes in the United States, after being inspired by similar concepts in Japan and Europe. Located on Tennyson St. in the Berkeley neighborhood, the cafe lets visitors stop in for a cup of coffee and spend quality time with cats or kittens that are in need of adoption. The cafe's sister non-profit, Denver Cat Rescue, saves over 500 cats per year (with the help of more than 75 foster families and dozens of volunteers)!
As you can imagine, the pandemic has been incredibly challenging for small business owners like Leila. She recently told us that locking in an affordable mortgage on a home close to the cafe "was the main reason I was able to survive the pandemic without the security of a paycheck. Four years later, I couldn't be happier with how everything has played out and can't wait to watch Denver's growth and prosperity and reap the benefits of homeownership in this great city."
