Welcome To
Artistic and spirited with a side of urban grit.
Inclusive of four historic districts, Globeville, Elyria-Swansea, Five Points, and Cole, River North Art District (also known as RiNo) is firmly grounded in its industrial roots. When industry moved out of the area in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the neighborhood was left vacant. The area slowly became home to many artists and creatives who thrived on the energy and community the neighborhood provided. In 2005 local artists Tracy Weil and Jill Hadley-Hooper created the River North Art District with the aim of “creating a creative community that would connect the artists that made the area their home”. At its core RiNo is still centered around the old warehouses and train yards that were once the epicenter of Denver industry, its thriving cultural history, and its exciting new development.
As a vibrant urban hub, RiNo is a blend of restored industrial buildings and new developments. The neighborhood has everything from artist lofts to modern townhomes, luxury condominiums and historic single family homes. RiNo may be a bustling destination for those wanting to experience the art, dining, and brewery scene during the weekend, but at its heart, the neighborhood offers residents an inclusive and creative refuge that is only a stone’s throw away from downtown.
The incredible views of downtown and the mountains, the diverse mix of creative businesses, and the exploding dining and brewery scene creates a palpable energy that runs through the neighborhood, making RiNo a fantastic place to live, work, and play. Known as the district “Where Art Is Made”, the constantly evolving street art movement and the panoply of galleries are integral to the neighborhood’s identity. RiNo may be one of the most rapidly evolving neighborhoods in Denver, but its sentiment and community spirit have stayed true to the neighborhood’s roots.
Come and take a look around RiNo with our local expert, resident, and team member Lauren Waters!
