Staying in town or heading for the mountains, here's everything happening across Colorado this Labor Day weekend!
Whether you're staying close to home or heading up into the high country, we've rounded up our favorite ways to spend September 4-7, 2026.
You really don't have to leave the Front Range to have a full Labor Day weekend. From four nights at Red Rocks to farmers' markets, art walks, and free outdoor movies, there's plenty to keep you busy right at home.
There's a lot to love in Denver this Labor Day weekend.
We're kicking things off with Maná at Red Rocks, September 4-5 at 8:30 pm, when the legendary Mexican rock band plays two nights under the stars in Morrison. On the other end of the weekend, Gregory Alan Isakov with the Colorado Symphony closes things out at Red Rocks September 6-7 at 8:00 pm, which feels like the perfect mellow send-off to summer.
If you're more of a jam-band household, Phish is playing three nights, September 4-6, at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, always an unpredictable, high-energy show.
Looking for something free? Movies on the Green wraps up its summer season September 4 with an outdoor screening of Wicked: For Good at The South Green in Central Park. Grab a blanket, get there before dusk, and support a good cause, since concessions benefit a local nonprofit.
Baseball fans can catch the Rockies hosting the St. Louis Cardinals at Coors Field September 4-6.
A few more of our favorites happening around Denver this weekend:
If Denver's lineup feels like a lot, Boulder is the perfect antidote, offering a quieter, slower-paced long weekend without sacrificing things to do.
The Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema runs September 4-6, with rooftop premiere screenings at the Museum of Boulder starting at 6:30 pm each evening, alongside live performances and installations around town. On Friday night, First Friday Artwalk takes over the North Boulder Art District from 6:00-9:00 pm, a great excuse to wander galleries and studios.
And since Labor Day weekend falls right in the sweet spot for Colorado produce, Saturday morning is our pick for a trip to the Boulder Farmers Market, with seasonal produce, flowers, and prepared foods from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
More happening around Boulder this weekend:
About an hour south, Colorado Springs hosts one of the state's most beloved Labor Day traditions: the Labor Day Lift Off, September 5-7 at Memorial Park. Roughly 70 hot air balloons take to the sky during morning launches (be there by 6:30 am for the 7:00 am liftoff), with evening balloon glows, live music, and drone shows all weekend, and it's completely free.
While you're in the area, swing by neighboring Manitou Springs for the Commonwheel Art Festival, running the same weekend (September 5-7, 10:00 am-5:00 pm) with local artists, live music, and food, also free.
For something simple and local, the Colorado Pizza Festival brings more than 20 Colorado pizzerias to downtown Longmont on September 5 for a full day of pizza, music, and community.
A lot of our clients treat Labor Day as the last real excuse for a mountain weekend before fall settles in, and this year there's plenty to make the trip worth it. From one of the biggest music festivals in the state to a legendary film festival, here's where we'd go.
If you're building your whole weekend around live music, this is the one. The JAS Labor Day Experience takes over Snowmass Town Park September 4-6 with an incredible lineup against the Elk Mountain backdrop:
General admission includes the JAS Village, with food and drink vendors, a second stage, crafts, and kids' activities.
In Aspen, we always love a stop at the Aspen Saturday Market (Sept 5), plus JAS After Dark shows running September 4-6.
The Telluride Film Festival returns for its 53rd year, September 4-7, bringing filmmakers, actors, and movie lovers to town for four days of premieres, tributes, and discussions. Part of the charm is that the full program isn't announced far in advance, but even if you don't catch every screening, Telluride itself is worth the trip.
Heading up early? The Telluride Farmers' Market runs Friday, September 4, and the Colorado 150 "Stories in the Sky" Drone Show lights up the sky Thursday, September 3.
The 32nd annual Vail Jazz Festival brings three days of live jazz to Manor Vail Lodge, September 4-6, with headliner performances, collaborations, and tributes to jazz legends. We'd pair it with the Vail Farmers' Market & Art Show in Vail Village on September 6 for a full weekend.
Breckenridge might have the busiest Labor Day calendar of any mountain town this year. The Great Divide Art Festival runs September 5-7 and is free to attend, easy to pair with a day wandering Main Street. The Beaver Run Labor Day Music Festival brings live music and mountain views to the base of Peak 9 on September 5, and the Breckenridge Sunday Market wraps things up on September 6. The Epic Discovery + Breckenridge Gondola will also be open through September 7 if you want to spend some time up on the mountain.
Heading up early? Don't miss the Thursday Market + AirStage Summer Après on September 3.
Crested Butte doesn't have a major festival on the books this Labor Day, which honestly might make it our pick if you're craving quiet. Spend the weekend hiking, mountain biking, wandering downtown, or taking a drive through the Gunnison Valley. It's worth checking the local events calendar as the date gets closer, since more events are often added.
The Labor Day Arts & Crafts Festival takes over Bond Park in downtown Estes Park September 5-7, with dozens of local artists selling paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, and more, and admission is free. We'd pair it with a trip into Rocky Mountain National Park (double-check current timed-entry requirements before you go) and the First Friday Art Groove on September 4 for a full mountain weekend.
Wherever you end up, we hope you get a little sunshine, a little live music, and a good excuse to say goodbye to summer.
